In Bloom

A suspended canopy translates local wildflowers into a lobby installation.

Austin, Texas · FYOOG in collaboration with KASL studio

Independent editorial coverage. These are projects by the credited artists and organisations, not commissionit projects. Featuring an artist does not imply representation, partnership or current availability.

The commission

KASL studio describes In Bloom as a 2022 collaboration with FYOOG at 300 Colorado in downtown Austin. Inspired by Central Texas wildflowers, the installation uses more than 5,000 interlocking steel discs across a canopy spanning 44 feet. CODAworx features the project in its FYOOG profile.

What this suggests for your brief

A repeated component can create a rich surface without turning the brief into a literal illustration. Discuss samples and prototypes early, especially when the finish changes under different lighting. Suspended work also needs coordinated fixing details and an agreed inspection plan.

Start with what interests you

Tell us whether it is the material, scale, light, interaction or connection to place. We can explore an original proposal for your own setting and enquire about a named artist where appropriate. Any artist involvement must be confirmed before a project is offered.
